Classical Ballet originated in Renaissance Italy and established its present form during the 19th century. It is characterized by light, graceful movements and the dancer wears a tutu or soft ballet dress. Professional ballet dancers dance en pointe, in specially made ballet shoes with reinforced toes.
Our Baby ballet classes use imagery, songs and stories to develop the imagination and love of music and dance. Basic ballet positions and steps are taught in a fun way to ensure that every child builds happy memories of their classes. Our friendly and caring atmosphere is there in all our classes, whatever the level or age.
Our Adult Ballet classes are open to anyone, of any age, who love to dance. The gentle, graceful exercises and movements make these classes perfect for all, whether you have danced before or are a complete beginner.
Our Acrobatics classes are designed to increase the dancer’s flexibility and core strength at the same time as teaching them tumbling tricks. We enter our Acro pupils in Performance Award sessions every year.
Jazz Dance is a performance dance technique and style that first emerged in the United States in the early 20th century. Unlike Classical Ballet, there are no limitations of use of body and expression in Jazz Dance. The dancers you see in musical productions, Broadway shows, music videos and such like are usually performing in the Modern Jazz style.
In our Modern Jazz classes we use modern music that the children know and love. Every pupil is encouraged to develop their own unique style of performance, making these classes very popular in the school.
Musical Theatreal Classes
These days, a dancer has to have several skills to succeed. Every dancer aims to become a “triple threat”, in other words be able to dance, sing and act. To achieve a career in musicals and commercial productions this is a must.
In our Musical Theatre class we teach singing and acting, as well as dance, and enter our pupils in regular exam sessions.
